Ladies To Contest Final Berth

The Carrick-on-Shannon women meet their Buccaneers counterparts in the Connacht Development League semi-final on January 29.

The Carrick troupe won four of its five regular season fixtures in securing second spot, six points adrift of league frontrunners Sligo and three clear of the nearest (and impending) rivals Buccaneers.

Earlier this season Carrick squeaked home 7-0 against Buccaneers and will hope to put even more space between them in the crunch match at the end of the month.

On the balance of other results, Carrick posted 46 points to Buccaneers’ 19 in each’s respective match with Tuam, although Carrick surrendered more points in defence. Coaches Mick and Ian will look to shore up Carrick’s defensive shortfalls before Sunday week, and focus on what will likely be a Sligo clash if successful in the semi-final. Training continues this Tuesday at 8pm in the Carrick Sports Complex and Friday at a venue to be confirmed. Details to appear on facebook and the club website.
