Les Kiss drawsrecord attendance.

LesKissSThere was a record attendance at the Coaching Dept’s recent seminar with Irish Defence coach Les Kiss. There were in excess of 65 players and coaches at the Sportsground last Friday to hear his very innovative tackle techniques and reactive defensive systems.
Kiss went through a technique known as the “choke” tackle which involves the tackler smothering the ball in the tackle and keeping a strong base to slow or prevent the player getting to ground. Ireland have found this very useful with the length of time the ball is involved in the choke allowing other players to re-structure in defence.
The coaches were also given tips in techniques to coach players to react differently depending on what they are faced with in attack. His belief is that defence should not only prevent the opposition attack but should identify opportunities to create a turnover.

The Coaching Dept of Eamonn Molloy and Jimmy Duffy would like to sincerely thank Les Kiss for being so generous with his time and knowledge.
Also thanks to the players who braved the difficult weather conditions to demonstrate the skills and a special thank you the Galwegians club who provided the seating to equip the gym when the demand for places forced the change of venue.
