Montpellier secured a narrow two-point win over Connacht in Saint-Affrique, France tonight.

It was an impressive display from Pat Lam’s men in their first run out of the season. With the integration of the summer signings and Academy players, 32 members of the squad were given a run out.

Tries were scored by new fullback Cian Kelleher and Academy wing Cormac Brennan, each making their Connacht debut. Nepia Fox-Matamua also got on the score sheet on his return from a long-term knee injury.

Outhalves Jack Carty and Shane O’Leary kiced a conversion each.

Connacht Rugby kick off the official season with a home game against Glasgow Warriors on Saturday September 3rd (kick off 5:15pm).
