John Muldoon: Preview ahead of Glasgow

After a bonus point win in Round 1 of the BKT United Rugby Championship, where Connacht beat Ospreys 34-26, attention for the men in green now turns to this Saturday as they take on Glasgow at The Sportsground. (3pm k/o).

Speaking ahead of the game was Lineout and Maul coach John Muldoon.

"I think we had some moments where we showed what we're about last Saturday against Ospreys"

"We had some frustrating moments but ultimately it had the real feel of the season opener"

"Little green shoots of what we we've been working on and then a bit of frustration in the second half where we took the foot off the pedal"

"We're looking forward to Saturday which will be a physical battle as always"

"I think Glasgow over the last number of years have prided themselevs on that so we know up front it will be a tough one"

Glasgow began their season with a good win over Leinster last weekend at Scotstoun as they make their way over to the west of Ireland this Saturday.

"I think you need to take into account that Leinster were missing a lot of players but at the same time Glasgow had a job to do and did it well" said Muldoon

"We know Glasgow like to challenge teams in many different ways and bring something new each week"

"They like to chuck the ball around and make teams work"

John comes into the management setup as Lineout and Maul Coach. He is looking to bring something new to this area of Connacht's game while holding on to what was good.

"There are a few changes because everyone has their own ideas that they like to bring in and I'm no different"

"If it was a shorter pre-season I think we would have kept a lot of what was done last season, but the fact we had a long one allowed me to put my stamp on things a lot better"

"We had a lot of positives to take from last weekend but I don't think anyone walked away Saturday feeling we've made it"

Joe Joyce is one of the new faces at The Sportsground this season, a player Muldoon worked with during his time at Bristol.

"It helps the both of us having worked with each other and knowing what each other wants"

"Joe has been great for me in coming back"

"I'm just glad to see him play on Saturday and do so well but you can be sure there is a lot more to come from him"
