The Portwest Moment of the Season Award is back for 2019/20, and this time it’s better than ever. The Moment of the Season Award is a collaboration between Connacht Rugby and Portwest Ireland, and celebrates the special moments that take place every day across the province.
Last year’s awards acknowledged moments like Beibhinn Parsons’ record-breaking Ireland debut, CBS Roscommon’s historic breakthrough in Schools Rugby, a wonderful moment of inclusion from the Association of Referees Connacht Branch, and plenty more.
Now we’re on the lookout for the rugby moments that struck you the most this season, and this time around we’ve made a few adjustments to ensure *every* moment can be recognised.
Here’s how it works…
- Between now and the end of April, we are accepting nominations from the public for potential winners of the Moment of the Season award. Nominations can be submitted in two ways.
- Post a picture of the moment with a few lines about it to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account, and tag @ConnachtRugby and @PortwestIreland in the post (make sure the account you post from is public to ensure your entry is seen).
- Email the picture and a few lines about the entry to competitions@connachtrugby.ie.
- Every moment is eligible for entry as long as it occurred at some point during the 2019/20 rugby season.
- This year we are encouraging entrants which capture the essence of Irish Rugby’s core values: Excellence, Fun, Inclusivity, Integrity and Respect.
- When submitting your moment, make sure to tell us why you feel it encapsulates one or more of those five values.
- In early May Connacht Rugby and Portwest will collate all the entrants and a judging panel will pick the moments they feel best embodies each of the five values. Representatives from each of these moments will then be formally invited to the 2020 Connacht Rugby Awards night on Sunday 31st May at the Galmont Hotel, Galway.
- At the awards, the overall winner of the Portwest Moment of the Season will then be named.
All that's left to do now is get your nominations in! The best of luck to everyone who enters.
