This Sunday, 25th February the University of Galway will take on last year's champions Tuam/Oughterard Colts in the Bank of Ireland Women's Senior League Final at 4:00 PM in Creggs RFC.
Last year saw Tuam/Oughterard Colts face Westport RFC in the Senior League Final where Tuam/Oughterard Colts came away with a decisive 34-14 win in Galway and their first win in the Women's League Final - an impressive feat for their first year as an Adult Women's team.
The University of Galway team are no strangers to the Women's Senior League Final, however, having last won in the 2017/18 season and then making the final in the 2018/19 and 2019/2020 seasons.
This season, Tuam/Oughterard Colts have a clean record heading into the final with their tightest game being their round 7 game against Westport in a rematch of last year's finalists. This time, Westport didn't make it as easy and Tuam/Oughterard Colts came away with a 17-12 win at home. They then went on to face Sligo in their home Semi-Final where they turned things around with a 56-0 win.
The Univeristy of Galway meanwhile, faced Westport twice in their League campaign in Round 1 and their semi-final. Both times were tight matches with University of Galway taking the win on both occasions with scorelines of 44-39 in their Round 1 match and 15-12 in their Semi-Final. The University of Galway's only loss in their League campaign so far has been against Tuam/Oughterard Colts where they fell 53-24 at home in Round 2.
A rematch between the two sides in the Final Sunday is bound to be hotly contested with the teams not having met since Round 2.
