Buccaneers RFC Seeking U20s Coaching Team

Buccaneers RFC are seeking applications for the positions of Head Coach and Assistant Coach of their U20s squad for the 2023/24 season.

The Athlone club is happy to consider applications from a full coaching ticket or from individual coaches interested in either of the above positions.

Buccaneers RFC are a vibrant and ambitious club and see this position playing an important role in the future success of the Club.

They currently field 4 Men’s Senior teams participating in Energia All-Ireland Div. 1B, Connacht J1B, Connacht J1C and their U20s Team currently participates in the Leinster JP Fanagan Premier 2 league

Buccaneers RFC see the roles of U20s Head Coach and Assistant Coach playing a very important part in creating and sustaining the future of the club and they have realistic ambitions for their U20 team playing at the highest level in club rugby in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a vibrant squad environment that allows the team to develop their own identity and culture that is in line with Buccaneers’ values and ambition.
  • Create good relationships with all club coaching staff, medical personnel, S&C teams and the players.
  • Conduct regular reviews with players, coaching teams and our Director of Rugby against agreed KPIs.
  • Be responsible for the direction and implementation of the U20s programme
  • Plan and lead all training sessions and attend all league and cup matches plus any friendlies.
  • Work with senior coaches to develop individual skills, technical and tactical awareness, and higher levels of game awareness.
  • Ensure the players have an inclusive abd challenging, but enjoyable, rugby experience.
  • Assist the Football Committee with the recruitment of players.

  • Strong Player management skills.
  • High degree of technical knowledge.
  • Good Communication skills to teach the message effectively.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm to the U20s Programme and the future success of same.

 

Assistant Coach

  • Assist head coach in the implementation of the coaching philosophy as outlined above.
  • Be responsible for individual player development within the cohort of players you are coaching.
  • Assist the head coach in development of team unit skills, tactics and levels of team understanding.
  • Be responsible for tactical management and coaching within your remit, and develop and communicate training and playing strategies in order to effectively implement during games.

 

Key requirements

  • Stage 3 IRFU Coaching Award/IRFU Senior Coaching Course (Head Coach at least).
  • Previous coaching experience.
  • Energy and ambition to match ours.
