Forde eyes more starts

Its Round 15 of the BKT United Rugby Championship and Connacht will be travelling to Wales this weekend where they take on the Dragons at Rodney Parade, kick-off is 7:35pm.

Connacht have been in good form of late winning their last three games in the URC and claimimg maximum points in each. One man who has been a key part of the good form is Galway man Cathal Forde. The Corinthians star has had a good run of games and will be hoping to stay in the side for this weekends challenge.

"Yeah it's not going too bad for me at the moment" said Forde.

"I'm delighted to be getting a few games on the bounce and I'm delighted that I've been able to take my opportunity when its come"

Forde can play at either out-half or inside centre but he has found himself wearing the 12 jersey more this season. Its a position where Connacht are stacked with top quality players with the likes of Bundee Aki, Tom Daly, David Hawkshaw and Cathal himself.

"There's real compeition for that 12 jersey" said Forde.

"We're all striving to be the best and be better than the other"

"We all have a really good relationship between us which helps that drive to be better"

"For me if I have a question for Tom Daly, Hawky or Bundee they are there to help me which is great at this stage of my career where I can go to these guys and learn from them"

As a local home grown player representing the team he grew up supporting Cathal spoke about his pride of wearing the green jersey.

"I'm delighted to be playing for my home province, this is the team I've supported since I first started watching rugby at seven or eight"

"I don't feel being the local lad has added any pressure on me to be honest, I'm probably just more excited than anything as I get to play for Connacht so that pressure feeling doesn't outweigh the excitment"

Attention now turns to the Dragons where Connacht will hope to make it four wins from four.

"We've played some good rugby over the last few weeks from where we were at the start of the season"

"We definitely have developed and in recent weeks we've shown that next level which we need to reach"

"However, we do need to keep getting better as this is the crunch time of the season with a lot to play for"

Team selection for Saturday's game against the Dragons will be announced tomorrow
