Having made his debut in the 2021/22 season, Cathal Forde established himself last season with eleven appearances during the URC and Challenge Cup. This season the Galway man is looking to keep improving and playing more games.
Forde started the season opener against Ospreys at home last Saturday with an impressive performance including a try which sealed the bonus point.
"I was happy with my own performance and I think as a team in that first half we showed what we can do"
"We know there are plenty of things we need to work on espeically as it is only the start of the season, but the main thing is we got the win"
Forde started his career at out-half but has made the battle for the number 12 jersey a competitive one by consistently performing.
"I'm playing my best rugby at inside centre at the minute and its where I want to play"
"I made my debut at out-half but I've got a chance in at centre and I think it suits my game"
Saturday against Ospreys saw Cathal play with JJ Hanrahan for the first time and it was one he enjoyed.
"JJ is a really good player and has a load of experience having played in the URC, Premiership and Top 14"
"It is nice to play outside someone like him"
"It is interesting to learn from JJ about his different experiences abroad and the different styles of play. Little nuggest to get are great for young players to help develop"
From a new face to one he know's very well at this stage. Partnering Tom Farrell in the centre, the two men have racked up six wins in seven games with each other. Forde spoke about Farrell and what makes playing alongside him so enjoyable.
"He's an unbelievable player and brings a wealth of experience"
"He constantly chats to me and his calm presence on the pitch makes it a lot easier to play when you have someone like him beside you"
