Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce the 2023 edition of the Laya Tag Rugby Series, in conjunction with our partners laya.
Following the success of last year’s Laya Tag Rugby Series – the first of its kind to be run by Connacht Rugby with laya– this year builds on that success with even more venues across more dates.
Among the venues is Corinthians RFC which in recent years has become one of the largest tag events in the country and a mainstay in the Galway summer social scene. This year’s series at the Galway club can cater for 72 teams with games getting underway on 25th May.
There will also be a Laya Tag Rugby Series in Buccaneers RFC, Connemara RFC, Westport RFC, Loughrea RFC, Sligo RFC and Ballina RFC, greatly expanding the number of locations from last year.
Tag Rugby is a fun and fast-moving non-contact variation of the game, suitable for all ability and experience levels. Teams are made up of 7 players (4 males & 3 females) with squads of up to 15 players. Tag Rugby is ideal for people looking for a fun social way to keep fit and become involved in rugby throughout the summer.
Joe Gorham, Head of Rugby Development at Connacht Rugby says:
“It’s brilliant to see the Laya Tag Rugby Series come around again for 2023. Tag Rugby is such an integral part of our sport and for many people is their first introduction to it in a playing capacity. There’s an infectious sense of fun and community at every Laya Tag Rugby Series, and I’m sure that’ll be the case again this year. Our sincere thanks also to our partners laya healthcare for their ongoing support in bringing this to life.”
Kevin Kent, Head of Marketing at laya healthcare, says:
“Laya is proud to be the Official Health and Wellbeing Partner to Connacht Rugby, and we’re delighted to extend our support for the province once again as title sponsor for the summer series of Laya Tag Rugby. Embracing the more fun and social side to rugby is a great way to get active and stay healthy, and we’re delighted to keep fans a beat ahead of the action as the series kicks off for a second year. With more club venues registered for 2023, we are looking forward to an even bigger and better tournament this year.”
