Connacht Rugby and laya healthcare are delighted to be bringing the Laya Tag Rugby Series to venues around the province this summer.
Tag rugby has quickly become the biggest social sporting event of the summer, with hundreds of teams taking part in nine different locations, with many of them now underway.
The Corinthians Laya Tag Rugby Series is one of the biggest of its kind in Ireland, and is now underway with 72 teams already signed up and every spot sold out just weeks after applications opened.
Further competitions are also taking place at various locations around Connacht, and a full list of dates and venues, plus details on how to enter for those still taking applications, can be found at connachtrugby.ie/tag.
Tag rugby is a fun and fast-moving non-contact variation of the game, suitable for all ability and experience levels. Teams are made up of 7 players (4 males & 3 females) with squads of up to 15 players. Tag Rugby is ideal for people looking for a fun social way to keep fit and become involved in rugby throughout the summer.
Joe Gorham, Head of Rugby Development in Connacht Rugby says:
“Tag Rugby is a key pillar for us in ensuring we put a rugby ball in the hands of as many people as possible in our province. The Laya Tag Rugby Series continues to go from strength to strength, and is built on the positive foundations on years gone by. Since we have joined forces with laya they have enabled us to help make tag rugby become as popular as it is today, and we thank them for their ongoing support to this great sport.”
Micheál Murphy, Brand and Sponsorship Manager at laya healthcare, says:
“Laya is proud to be the Official Health and Wellbeing Partner to Connacht Rugby, and we’re delighted to extend our support for the province once again as title sponsor for the summer series of Laya Tag Rugby. Embracing the more fun and social side to rugby is a great way to get active and stay healthy, and we’re delighted to keep fans always a beat ahead of the action as the series kicks off for a third year. With more club venues registered for 2024, we are looking forward to an even bigger and better tournament this year.”
