Loughrea RFC welcome Kieran Marmion

Monday night saw Loughrea RFC launch their youth rugby skills development sessions where players and coaches from under 13 to under 16 work on their game specific skills in a mixture of small sided games and reduced activities.

Connacht and Ireland scrumhalf Kieran Marmion was on hand to offer up some tips while giving special attention to the players catch/pass skills and ran some handling and decision making drills. Before taking time to take pictures with all the players, coaches and parents in attendance, Kieran took some time with some of the clubs scrumhalf talent to pass on some tips and drills that have helped  in his own game and will help the players reach their potential.

Kieran highlighted the importance of players working on their own skills in both club sessions and in their own time.

Paddy Sweeney, Loughrea RFC President thanked Kieran for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the club and highlighted what a boost it is for the players to see one of their heroes in their own club while also wishing him the very best for the season in both green jerseys. Paddy also noted that Kieran's family hailed from Loughrea and had an extended open invite to Loughrea RFC.

We had almost 80 players both boys and girls for a skills session and this is just the first week it was great to see the coaches involved in coaching different aspects of the game with players they normally do not get to coach, this was a really positive start."

Loughrea RFC have teams from under 13 to under 18.5 and all new players are welcome.
