The Ireland Under-19 side, sponsored by PwC, for their opening game against their French counterparts in Bordeaux this evening (6.30pm local time) has been confirmed.
Connacht sub-Academy player Sean Masterson captains the side with Connacht U19s player Corey Reid among the replacements.
Corinthians’ Masterson, who made his Ireland U20 debut against France in February, started for the U19s against Japan last month while exciting Marist College centre/full-back Reid scored a try off the bench against the touring side.
The squad are coached by Kieran Campbell with Connacht Rugby Elite Player Development Officer Ambrose Conboy one of Campbell’s assistant coaches.
Masterson captains the side from Number 8, with flankers Aaron Hall and Jack Cooke completing the back-row.
Matt Dalton and Jack Dunne are named in the second-row, with front rowers James French, Diarmuid Barron and Tom O'Toole completing the scrum.
In the backs, Hugh O'Sullivan starts at scrum-half, with Angus Curtis at number 10.
David McCarthy and James Hume form the centre partnership and Mark Keane and Peter Sullivan line out on the wings and Michael Silvester is at full-back.
This evening's game in the Stade Jules Ladoumègue in Lormont is the first of two matches between the sides, with the second fixture set for this Sunday in Stade Robert Brettes, Merignac, Bordeaux.
