With club and schools matches about to start for the 2024/25 season, the Association of Referees Connacht Branch (ARCB) are holding a course for anyone interested in getting involved with refereeing!

ARCB Referee Cristian Talos attended a course for new referees in September 2023 and said about the course, "The referee course brought together a lot of like-minded individuals. I was delighted to be amongst a number of qualified referees and other rugby fans sharing similar interests. Without a referee there is no game and the sport needs our support to continue making it a successful choice for many young players out there".

When? Saturday, 14th September

Where? The Connacht Hotel in Galway City

What Time? 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM

Do I need to have refereed before to attend? No! This course is aimed at those who have little to no past refereeing experince.

Attending the course will give new referees the confidence and base knowledge to begin their refereeing careers. "With the upcoming new members course I’m reminded of why I got involved and enjoy refereeing. I really enjoy meeting people around Connacht and I get to see up close some brilliant games. I enjoy the challenge and the demands of physical fitness and mental focus," says veteran ARCB referee Johnny Quinn.
