There are only three games left in the regular season of the BKT United Rugby Championship and Connacht make the short trip down South for Round 16 where Pete Wilkins side take on Munster in Thomond Park. Kick off at 5.15pm and the game will be live on RTE.
Having won their last two games with a bonus point Connacht find themselves in sixth position, level on points with Benetton and Ulster who are below them. A good win over in Newport against the Dragons came at a bit of a cost for the Western province where out half JJ Hanrahan unfortunately suffered an ACL injury.
"We still have the options we had behind JJ and Jack Carty in that position"
"Tom Daly has had a lot of time at ten all season and I would be very confident with him starting for us if he had to"
"Sean Naughton from our academy team who was part of the Irish U20 squad is training with us full time and Cathal Forde can cover that position as he has done from the bench this season"
"We have Jack available this week which is really important for us"
Sean Naughton who joined the Connacht academy this season has been one of the stars for Corinthians in the AIL this year and with his recent perfromances for the club, its hard not to have him in the thought process for this weekend.
"Sean has all the skill set that I think you need to be a high quality ten"
"He is very young in his career but he has been brilliant for Corinthians this season, we have been very impressed by what we've seen from him"
"We didn't and he probably didn't have the minutes he wanted with the Irish U20s but the moments he produced where high quality ones"
Connacht's remaining games after Munster are at home to Stormers and then away to Leinster at the RDS. Pete feels two wins in these last three games would see them finish where they want, but he knows this URC season has had plenty of twist and turns for every club.
"If we won one and picked up bonus points we would be in the mix but you know this league table can flip its head week after week with the way results go"
"Our aim is to do our very best and win this week"
