The Women’s Rugby World Cup tour rolled into Connacht last week with some fantastic festivals of rugby taking place.

Last Sunday saw 12 teams participate in a Mini Women's Rugby World Cup tournament at a sun-kissed Carton House with four Connacht clubs competing (full details here). Ireland Women's captain Niamh Briggs was on hand as the girls flew the flag for each of the participating countries.

Monday was the first stop on the Connacht leg of the tour with Scoil Bhríde in Tuam the first port of call. Ireland international Cliodhna Moloney visited her old school, the Mercy in Tuam, with the trophy along the way.

The trophy then moved on to Muire Gan Smal Primary School, Mount St. Michael Secondary School and Claremorris RFC that day.

Ballyhaunis and the Mercy College in Sligo played host on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday saw the trophy make a flying visit back to Dublin for the IRFU U19 Schools Sevens Festival in Terenure College RFC.

Ballina RFC hosted the trophy on Friday before the trophy made another flying visit to Dublin on Saturday for the Women's All-Ireland League final at Donnybrook.

It was back to Connacht this week for stops in Ballinasloe and Galwegians earlier this week with Portumna hosting the trophy today
