Schools Tag Rugby Blitz at Tuam RFC

Connacht Rugby Club & Community Officer Conor Galvin held a National Schools Tag Rugby Blitz at Tuam RFC last week.

Over 180 fifth and sixth class pupils, boys and girls, from Cummer NS, Belclare NS, St Patrick's Boys, and Gaelscoil Iarfhlatha attended.

The aim of the initiative was to promote rugby in the area and to give as many young people as possible the opportunity to play rugby and partner the schools with their local rugby club.

Connacht Tugby would like to thank John Ward, Jimmy Maughan and everyone at Tuam RFC for their help along with the pupils of teachers from the four schools that participated.

Tuam RFC President John Ward said: "The standard on show was very impressive and, as always, the level of the games were very high. The staff of the schools were great to work with and we hope to grow these blitzes next season with more schools and more classes involved.

"We also look forward to welcoming new players into Tuam RFC next year and  to see many of these players playing first year rugby in schools around Tuam."
