Creggs RFC Men's team and Tuam RFC Women's team both are into the Energia All-Ireland Junior Cup Playoffs this weekend with both sides facing Enniskillen.
Creggs RFC Men's team once again find themselves into the Energia AIL Junior Cup qualifier with them facing Enniskillen this time in Mullingar RFC tomorrow, 28th March at 3:00 PM. The Creggs side saw themselves into the AIL Junior Provincial League Championships after overcoming a strong Dunmore RFC side in the Bank of Ireland J1A League Final in Dexcom Stadium.
"Creggs RFC are really looking forward to our All Ireland League qualifier game V Enniskillen RFC in the grounds of Mullingar RFC," says Ger Dowd, Director of Rugby in Creggs RFC. "Our team has been very consistent and dedicated over the last few seasons having recently defeated Dunmore RFC to claim our forth successive Connacht Junior League title. Last year we narrowly lost out to Bective Rangers RFC at this stage of the competition. The challenge is now to see if we can go one step further to reach the All Ireland League as we did in 1996 when the first All Ireland league competition took place. We face a very talented Enniskillen side and we hope that both sides play entertaining rugby in the proper spirit of the game".
Meanwhile, Tuam RFC Women's team are once again into the Energia Women's AIL Junior League Semi-Final where they will also face Enniskillen. Their kick off is Sunday, 29th March at 2:30 PM in Enniskillen. Tuam RFC have gone from winning their first Connacht Women's League title in 2022 to becoming first-time finalists in the Energia Junior Cup in recent years. After beating Creggs RFC in the Bank of Ireland Women's Senior Cup in Dexcom Stadium, they have progressed into the AIL Junior Semi-Final again.
"We would like to wish our ladies best of luck in the Junior AIL qualifier on Sunday vs Enniskillen," says coach Norman Tierney. "It will be a tough task on Sunday [against a] good Enniskillen team. It probably has came at a bad time for us with injuries and girls gone with the Irish U18 camp, but the girls have a never-give-up attitude and will be looking forward to the task on hand".
We all are wishing both sides the best of luck in their respective Energia AIL Junior Playoff matches this weekend!
