U14 Girls and Senior Development Boys Schools Finals Preview

This Wednesday, 2nd April sees a schools double header in Creggs RFC starting with the U14 Girls Schools League Final at 1:00 PM followed by the Senior Development Boys Schools Cup Final at 3:00 PM.

With the work still ongoing in Dexcom Stadium, this Wednesday's schools double header will be held in Creggs RFC. The first final of the day is the U14 Girls Schools League Final which will see two very strong sides battling it out for the title. The final will be contested by Sacred Heart School Westport and Coláiste Mhuire Ballygar. Both schools have been growing year on year and absolutely stormed through their respective Pools this season seeing clean records up to the final. Sacred Heart School faced a strong Dunmore CS team in their first match of the campaign where Sacred Heart came away with a 20-15 away win. From there, they went on to record wins against Mercy College Sligo, The Convent Roscommon, Abbey CC, and Sligo Grammar which saw them into the Semi-Final against the 2nd seed in Pool B - Athlone CC. Proving just too strong on that occasion, Sacred Heart made no mistake in putting away 8 tries to decisively claim their spot in the final. Coláiste Mhuire Ballygar also had an incredibly impressive League campaign starting off with a 30-5 win over Portumna CS followed by brilliant wins over Ardscoil Mhuire and Athlone CC before facing the 2nd seed in Pool A, Dunmore CS. Having grown strength to strength over the league campaign, Coláiste Mhuire sealed the victory with a 40-12 win in front of a home crowd to ensure they would return to Creggs RFC for the Final tomorrow. With two young and electric sides facing off, the U14 Girls Schools League Final is sure to be one for the ages. The U14 Girls Schools League Final is at 1:00 PM on Wed, 2nd April in Creggs RFC.

The second final of the day will see newly established Senior Schools team St. Louis CS take on St. Jarlath's College Tuam. In a thrilling development, St. Jarlath's finished in a three-way tie for first place in their Pool for the Senior C League with all three teams on only 1 loss. Unfortunately, they just missed out on a Semi-Final spot due to points difference. This no doubt spurred them on into their Cup campaign where they topped their Pool B group with wins against Coláiste na Coiribe, Gortnor Abbey, Athlone CC and Sancta Maria College who has beaten them back in the league 38-20. This time, however, St. Jarlath's turned it around and took the win when it mattered with a 34-24 scoreline. This saw them into a home Semi-Final against St. Brigid's Loughrea where they came away with a 22-12 win and a place in the final. In a momentous occasion, St. Louis CS entered their first ever Senior Schools team into the Development Cup. Not having competed in the League, they were ready to hit the ground running and that's exactly what they did. In by no means an easy group, St. Louis CS fended off semi-finalists St. Brigids Loughrea, Clarin College and Carrick CS to reach their first ever Senior Semi-Final against Coláiste na Coiribe. After an electric match, it was the Kiltimagh side that solidified their spot in the final after a 26-19 win over Coláiste na Coiribe. More than ready for the challenge the final will bring, St. Louis CS will be rearing to show what they're capable of. This is sure to be a brilliant display of rugby tomorrow and is one not to be missed. The Senior Development Boys Cup Final is at 3:00 PM in Creggs RFC.
