Overview
The Connacht Rugby team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to lead and develop the Connacht Junior Rugby team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coaching and management of the Connacht Junior Rugby team, ensuring player development, tactical planning, and fostering an enjoyable culture both on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Coaching: Lead and inspire the Connacht Junior Rugby team with tactical knowledge and strategies to compete at the this level.
- Player Development: Work closely with individual players to develop their skills, and technical and tactical rugby IQ.
- Communication: Liaise with all Connacht junior club coaches and management, to identify players fit to represent Connacht juniors .
- Team Selection: Organize and lead team trials, warm-up games, select the match day squad, and deliver feedback on player performances.
- Tactical Planning: Develop and implement game strategies, analysing of games for team and individual development.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor for all players, fostering discipline, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Communication: Liaise with assistant coaches, management, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive team development.
- Fitness & Conditioning: Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff to ensure players are physically prepared for competition.
- Compliance: Ensure the team adheres to the rules and regulations set by Connacht Rugby and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU).
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of coaching experience, ideally at J1A or senior rugby level.
- Qualifications: IRFU Stage 4 or Performance Coaching Award
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Tactical knowledge of the game, including attack, defence, and set-pieces.
- Ability to foster a enjoyable and positive, environment.
- Commitment: Passion for developing Junior rugby players and a commitment to promoting the ethos of Connacht Rugby.
