PRO12 Trophy At St Muredach's

There was a special guest at the St Muredach's College open night earlier this week when the Guinness PRO12 trophy made an appearance.

The famous silverware, captured so brilliantly by Connacht in 2016, was brought into the school to show prospective students the emphasis there is on sport in St Muredach's.

Former Connacht Rugby President Gerry O'Donnell and local Club and Community Rugby Officer Russell O'Brien were on hand to speak with the young students and their families about the benefits, opportunities and fun enjoyed by those who play the game.

Ballina RFC in general, and Gerry and Russell in particular, have been working tirelessly in recent years to develop the number of schools playing rugby.

The success enjoyed in this year’s campaign has reached historic proportions with schools all over the region playing the game and many students playing club rugby with Ballina RFC.
