While Connacht were defeated at Parc y Scarlets tonight, Pat Lam was pleased with the improved performance that saw his side lead 8 – 7 at the break thanks to a Niyi Adeolokun try and three points from the boot of Jack Carty.

That one-point lead held until the 65th minute with good defense against a strong Scarlets side, also in search of their first win of the season.

With 15 minutes remaining, the Welsh side got over the whitewash from a five metre scrum, the ball fed to wing Liam Williams ito dive over and add to his first half score. Outhalf Rhys Patchell converted again and five minutes later added a drop goal to his tally.

Connacht, nine points down, went in search of a losing bonus point but couldn’t get past the hosts who held out in difficult conditions.
