Sportsground, Wednesday 26th March, 4pm.

The second game on Wednesday is the Senior Development final between HRC Mountbellew and Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin from An Cheathrú Rua. Both teams come into this game off impressive wins in the semi final, and good runs in the pool games.

HRC Mountbellew come into this final with the strongest form. Having gone unbeaten in the pool stages featuring bonus point wins over both CBS Roscommon and Gallen CS, HRC dispatched Pres Athenry 22-8 in the semi final. They are a forward orientated team, with the “beast” Cathal Laheen, Keith Lyons and Finbarr Hughes provinding their forward thrust, with captain Matthew Mills directing from scrumhalf.

Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin have made history in just getting to this final. They are the first Irish speaking team to make it to a Senior schools rugby final. They’ve done it the hard way with two wins and a loss from the pools stages, beating St. Enda’s and Athlone CC, and losing to beaten semi finalists Pres Athenry. They then accounted for St. Enda’s again in their semi final coming out 22-0 victors. They boast 3 Connacht U17 representatives in openside Ciann O’Cuinn and fullback Seosamh Mac Donnacha. The trio is completed by outhalf Colm de Buitléir who directs their play.
