Editted-Schools20131209 113533An Cheathrú Rua prevailed in the first game of the week this morning with a 29-19 win over Presentation Athenry. The Ghaeltacht school dominated the early exchanges with the help of a Cian Quinn touch down and well taken drop goal by Colm de Buitléar. They struck once more before the break through Michéal O’Toole with de Buitléar adding the extras.

Athenry were much improved in the second half hitting back through Daniel Regan after a long period of pressure, and a sublime individual effort by Callum Forde evading a number of would-be tacklers in a run from his own 22. Both tries were converted setting up a nervous last ten minutes with the score at 22-19.

Paddy O’Fatharta was to get the decisive score for An Cheathrú Rua, converted by de Buitléar, for the final score of 29-19.
