The Connacht Rugby senior squad made the journey to Carrick-on-Shannon RFC this morning to train and take part in an Open Training Session. Organised with the Leitrim-based club, over 500 students from the local primary and secondary schools travelled from around the area to watch Pat Lam and the coaches put the players through their paces before they were free to train and take part in games with the attending children. Local born player Shane Layden who played his club rugby with Carrick-on-Shannon RFC was a big hit at the event.

The event concluded on the pitch with an autograph session opportunity for photos and selfies.

A big thank you to all at Carrick-on-Shannon RFC for their hospitality and to the schools, teachers, principals and parents who all came out and made it a memorable day for everyone.

This was Connacht Rugby’s sixth open training session in the current session and follows on from successful trips to Buccaneers, Sligo, Ballinrobe, Monivea and Loughrea RFC.
