Sligo Grammar School Vs Rice College in Schools Junior Cup action

Sligo Grammar School Travelled to Rice College on Thursday the 22 of February. The match was played in very windy condition which made it very tough for all players.
Scoring got underway when winger Cian Doyle was at the end of many good phases from Grammar which led to a try in the corner. The try was unconverted.
Grammar didn’t stop there and ran in 3 more tries in the first half. Ryan Feehily, Paul Kilcoyne and Peter Oloyede all got one in the first half. Westport also ran in a try and a penalty, kicked by the outhalf.

Sligo Grammar didn’t stop there and ran in 4 more tries in the second half. T.J Ford getting 2 good tries from good runs from his own half, Robert Henry got a very good try, the kick through deflect off numerous players and bobbled over the line, he touched it down for the try. Christian Nielson got one as well as many good passes went through the hands to release him into the corner.
However Rice had the last say scoring a try in injury time. The try came after numerous ‘pick and drives’ finally defeated the Grammar defence. The try was unconverted in what were horrible conditions for any kicker.
