Sligo’s National Schools Rugby Blitz A Massive Success

Sligo I.T staged the second national schools rugby blitz on Wednesday last with 100 children from Geevagh, Ballintoger, Rockfield and St. Johns national schools all showing their rugby skills on the pitch. There was even an appearance of a very rare Geevagh crocodile as the teams paraded the pitch before the games got under way! The games themselves were extremely entertaining with each school full of pride and giving it their all.
Two weeks ago Sligo I.T played host to the first of these annual Sligo national school rugby blitz with 600 children in attendance, bringing the total to 700 children from 22 national schools in county Sligo. Showing that rugby is continuing to go from strength to strength in the county.
A big thank you to all the schools and teachers who took part, all at the Sligo Sports Partnership, Connacht Rugbys C.D.O Gavin Foley and C.D.M Lyndon Jones, Sligo Rugby Clubs Y.D.O Ross Mannion and Sligo R.F.Cs Mata Fifita.
