With two weeks gone, The Elvery’s Connacht Senior Cup only has two games in each pool to decide who progresses to the semi finals the week of the 3rd of March. This week is sure to separate the teams and it’s time to have a look at the possible outcomes from this week.

Pool A Played Won  Drawn Lost Bonus Points Points
1 Garbally College 2 2 0 0 1 9
2 Summerhill Sligo 2 1 0 1 1 5
3 Colaiste Iognaid 2 1 0 1 0 4
4 Rice College Westport 2 0 0 2 1 1

Fixtures to Play:

TBC: Colaiste Iognaid v Rice

Friday 31/01: Summerhill v Garbally

With two teams to go through, each team is still in with a mathematical chance of making the semi finals. Garbally and Summerhill have their fate in their own hands, while the Jes can only not go through with a win if Garbally manage a bonus point while losing to a bonus point win to Summerhill. It’s Rice who have most to do though, with a bonus point win necessary, and hoping that Summerhill come away from Garbally with nothing. Given how Garbally have been playing thus far, that isn’t as unrealistic as it could be.

Given the remaining fixtures and each team’s form, Colaiste Iognaid are likely to sneak into the semi finals with Garbally.

Pool B Played Won  Drawn Lost Bonus Points Points
1 Marist College Athlone 2 2 0 0 1 9
2 Sligo Grammar 2 2 0 0 0 8
3 St. Joseph’s 3 1 0 2 0 4
4 Clifden CS 3 0 0 3 0 0

Fixtures to Play:

Thursday 30/01: Sligo Grammar v Marist

Sligo Grammar host Marist on Thursday to decide who claims first place and who claims second. Both teams will go through, with the Bish and Clifden having accounted for all their games. It promises to be a big game on Thursday as both teams will not want to give an inch with an easier semi final draw at stake.
