In association with the Government’s back-to-work JobBridge Scheme, Connacht Rugby seeks two Sub Academy Strength & Conditioning Assistants

job description:

The intern/s will gain practical experience in the sports industry whilst working alongside experienced Strength and Conditioning Coaches with players and teams in the 15 to 19 age category.

The intern/s will also experience working with the Connacht Rugby development department.

The intern/s will receive formal/informal training in the following; IRFU Level 1 S&C, IRB Level 1 S&C Course and IRFU CCC Accreditation.

The intern/s will also receive six IRFU CPD Workshop days with the full-time IRFU staff. On completion the intern/s will have attained skills in designing and implementing an S&C programme for aspiring underage provincial rugby players.

The intern/s will be able to functionally assess a young player and design an appropriate high-performance training programme for that player.

skills requirement:

Applicants should have an involvement and interest in sport and specifically rugby. The person should be highly motivated, show a willingness to learn and an ability to work as part of a team. A full clean drivers licence and IT Skills are required qualifications. Desirable qualifications include; IRFU CCC Course and IAWLA Weightlifting Level 1 Course. Third-level degree in Sports Science or similar.

The positions are part-time (35 hours per week), and the start date is yet to be confirmed.

No experience required.

It is an internship.
