Connacht Rugby have announced that Tom Daly, Peter Robb, Dominic Robertson-McCoy, Shane Delahunt and Conor Kenny have all signed contract extensions with the province.

The signings come as a boost to Connacht as they continue to finalise their squad ahead of the 2020/21 season. Daly, Robb and Robertson-McCoy have all signed two-year extensions to keep them at the Sportsground until the end of the 2021/22 season, while Delahunt and Kenny have signed one-year extensions with the province.

Tom Daly joined Connacht in December 2018 and made his debut in the interprovincial derby with Munster in January 2019. In the 12 months since he has played over 20 times for Andy Friend’s side. Daly has previously been capped for Ireland at U20 level and is also a former captain of the Ireland Rugby 7s team.

Centre Peter Robb featured prominently in Connacht’s Guinness PRO12 winning season when he made 12 appearances throughout that campaign. The 25 year old has recovered from a number of recent injuries and has amassed 10 appearances so far this season.

Dominic Robertson-McCoy is now in his fourth season with Connacht. The New Zealand born Irish-qualified tighthead has made 50 appearances in the Connacht jersey – 16 of them coming in the current campaign.

Shane Delahunt joined Connacht through the Academy in 2014 and made his debut for the province in September of that year. The 26 year old also featured in Connacht’s Championship winning season in 2015/16 while still an academy player. He has a total of 74 appearances for Connacht.

Conor Kenny is another player to have come through the Connacht Academy, playing his club rugby with Buccaneers RFC and Connacht Schools with Garbally College where he won a Senior Cup medal in 2015. He has made 5 appearances in the Connacht senior side so far this season.

Commenting on the latest contract extensions, Connacht Head Coach Andy Friend said: “We are delighted to have Tom Daly, Peter Robb, Dominic Robertson-McCoy, Shane Delahunt and Conor Kenny all signing contract extensions with Connacht. During our Champions Cup and PRO14 campaigns we have already seen the depth we need in the squad to perform on two fronts. We expect to have more announcements in the coming weeks as we are working to finalise our squad going into the 2020/21 season”.

Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce that scrum halfs Caolin Blade and Conor McKeon and props Peter McCabe and Dominic Robertson-McCoy have signed contract extensions with the province ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Connacht native Caolin Blade came through the club structures in the province, playing for his local club Monivea RFC and from there went on to join the Connacht Academy. The 23 year old has now made 60 appearances in the Connacht jersey including 16 so far this season.

Conor McKeon graduated from the Connacht Academy last year after converting from the out half to scrum half position. He was a key player in the Connacht Eagles campaign this season in the B&I Cup.

Peter McCabe joined Connacht for a period on loan last season and signed a full time contract last summer. He has gone on to make 11 appearances during the current campaign.

Dominic Robertson-McCoy is now in his second season with Connacht. The New Zealand born Irish qualified tight head has made 5 appearances this season.

Welcoming the latest contract extensions, Connacht Rugby CEO, Willie Ruane said: “The signings of these four players are a further boost to our ambitions for next season. Caolin Blade and Conor McKeon have both come through our academy system and we are delighted that they have extended their contracts. Dominic Robertson-McCoy and Peter McCabe are two props that have settled in well in the Sportsground over the past two seasons. They will continue to provide increasing options in the front row next season.”

Commenting on the latest contract signings, Connacht Head Coach Kieran Keane added: “These are another four important players to have on board for next season. Caolin Blade has featured heavily for us this season and has performed well. Conor McKeon, Peter McCabe and Dominic Robertson-McCoy will also give us additional options over the long season.”

Connacht Rugby and the IRFU are pleased to announce that JP Cooney, Shane Delahunt, Steve Crosbie and Tom Farrell have all signed new contracts for the 2017/18 season.

With five seasons at the Sportsground under his belt, 27-year-old prop Cooney, who can play on both sides of the scrum, has further extended his stay. The Tipperary man featured in 22 games for the province this season and made his 50th appearance against Munster at Thomond Park earlier this month.

Delahunt made 11 appearances in his debut season as a member of the senior squad and started in the highly competitive number two jersey on four occasions. The 24-year-old, who graduated from the Connacht Academy last summer, now has 27 caps to his name. A former Kilkenny College captain, Delahunt represented Ireland at under-20 level in 2014.

24-year-old outhalf Crosbie, who can also play in midfield, joined Connacht in January of this year, following a short stint with Munster. The former Ireland U20’s player has featured in three PRO12 games for Connacht this year and kicked 17 points (six from six) in April’s 22-19 win away to Edinburgh.

The province has further boosted its options at midfield with the contract extension of 23-year-old Farrell. The former Bedford Blues player also joined the province in early 2017 and has made nine appearances since his arrival. Farrell has represented Ireland at U19 and U20 level.

Commenting on the latest contract news, Connacht CEO Willie Ruane said:

“Our squad is taking shape for next season and we’re delighted with the level of retention in the senior ranks. To have continuity up front in the shape of JP and Shane is a great boost and we are excited by what Steve and Tom can add to the squad having only joined us earlier in the year.

“Recruitment remains ongoing as we look to finalise the makeup of our squad for next season.”

Connacht Rugby can also confirm that senior players Conor Carey, Dominic Robertson-McCoy and Stacey Ili have had the second year on their current contracts activated and will remain at the Sportsground for the 2017/18 season.
