M Cosgrove500Garbally have one game (home)left against Colaiste Iognaid on February 25th @ 12.30. They will need to get maximum points to give themselves every opportunity to reach the final. Sligo Grammar will play Marist College in Sligo on the same day & at the same time. Marist need to win to keep themselves in the running.

Top Oil Junior Cup

Pool One has been hit by weather & pitch availability. Garbally College currently lead the way on 9 points closely followed by St Joseph’s Galway (Bish) on 5 points. Both schools have completed 2 games. The outstanding games in the pool include;

Sligo Grammar V The Bish

St Gerald’s Castlebar V Sligo Grammar

Garbally College V St Gerald’s College.

Defending Champions St Gerald’s will hope to win both remaining games to give them a chance of progressing but will face stiff competition from surprise package, Garbally College & the always strong Sligo Grammar. The highly fancied Bish, who were beaten league finalists before Christmas will also be confident of maintaining their form & securing a semi – final  position. Their clash with Sligo Grammar in Sligo promises to be a cracker.

Pool Two in contrast has just one game remaining with Marist College taking on CBS Roscommon (this year’s league winners). With CBS on 9 points (already qualified for the semi’s), Colaiste Iognaid on 7 (with all 3 games played) and Marist on 7 points the Athlone school need to take something from the game against CBS, even a losing bonus point would secure them a semi-final position.
