The match started with a penalty for the home team and a further mistake by Boys' Club let Tuam in for a try. With the score at 8 – 0 Club had to work hard and managed to keep in the Tuam half with a series of hard tackles. They were rewarded with a penalty duly converted by Ciaran Coyle.

The half continued with penalties awarded against Club for holding on but again the Tuam number 15 was unable to capitalise and the score stayed at 8 – 3. The referee continued to award penalties to Tuam and even with a different kicker they were still unable to score. Club had very few chances to play the ball wide and were kept in midfield by Tuam. Great tackles by Pete Small and Killian O'Brien kept Tuam at bay and resulted in a scrum for Club in the Tuam half. A steal and a series of short passes moved them deep into Tuam territory and in the end were rewarded with a penalty, which was missed leaving the score at half time 8 – 3.

The second half saw much of the play in the centre of the field and again penalties being awarded to Tuam with a successful kick leaving the score at 11 – 3. A chance for Club came with a run by Damien Connors who passed to Peter McDonagh who ran the ball into Tuam half but a mistake let Tuam back in. Club were unable to produce the wide passing play that has been so successful for the last few games and their only reward came with a penalty leaving the score 11 – 6. Finally, Club make a break-through in the shape of Stuart Cooke who ran the field to score a well-deserved try and with the conversion from Coyle in front of the post the score was level 11 – 11. The battle continued with near misses but the score remained the same until the final minutes when Club gave away a penalty and Tuam managed to kick it over leaving the final score at 14 – 13. Heartbreak for Boys' Club who will take some comfort from the way they fought hard to come back into the match.
