The Connacht Juniors coaching ticket for the 2023/24 season is now confirmed. Alan Bane takes the reigns as Head Coach this year after being Forwards Coach for the Juniors last season and Damien Burke stays on as physio again this year. Former Juniors player Craig Hansberry comes in as Assistant Coach for the season.
The 2023/24 Juniors squad will be announced at a future date.
Head Coach: Alan Bane
Alan is presently Head Coach of Castlebar RFC and was previously Coach at Corrib RFC. Alane played at AIL level with Corinthians RFC & Connemara RFC. He has worked within the Connacht Junior Coaching ticket for the past two seasons.
Assistant Coach: Darin Claasen
Darin works as a Club Rugby Development Officer at Buccaneers RFC and also worked as Head Coach of Tullamore RFC and was part of the AIL coaching ticket at Buccaneers RFC previously. Darin played AIL at Corinthians RFC and Buccaneers RFC (still holds the record of tries scored in an AIL season). As a player, Darin was also involved within the Connacht Rugby pathway.
Assistant Coach: Craig Hansberry
Craig works as a Connacht Rugby Development Officer in Galway City. Craig is a player with Ballinrobe RFC, having previously played at AIL level with Corinthians RFC. Craig was Head Coach of the very successful Connacht Under 18s Girls Squad. Craig played at underage National Level.
Manager: Jimmy Roddy
Jimmy has been a long-time volunteer at Corrib RFC, having held nearly every administrative role within the club. He brings a wealth of management experience to his new role with the Connacht Juniors.
Kit Manager: Derek Carlin
Derek has been involved as Co-Manager within the Corinthians RFC AIL squad. Derek has also been heavily involved in the Connacht Age Grade representative programme, having served as the Manager of the Connacht Under 19 Boys team for the past number of seasons.
Physio: Damien Burke
Damien has been involved as a Physio with the Connacht Junior Squad for the past few seasons. We are delighted to have him on board again.
