U17 Division 1 League Final:  Galwegians 14 Buccaneers 10
The final of the U17 Division 1 took place last weekend with a classic tie between fierce rivals Galwegians and Buccaneers. Galwegians scored an early converted try and having dominated the first half held this advantage until half time. In the second half Buccaneers came more into the game and were rewarded with an unconverted try. Galwegians responded with a try to leave the scores at 14-5 as the game entered the final quarter. Although two scores behind Buccs continued to take the game to their opponents, and with time running out they were rewarded with a second try to leave just 4 points between the teams. Galwegians missed the opportunity to make the game safe, when a kickable penalty was not converted, but they still have the composure to pin Buccaneers in their own half and close out the game for an historic victory to win the inaugural U17 league title. Galwegians now go on to all-Ireland series which takes place in April.
