New Referee Course in Connacht

With the club and schools season in full-swing and the excitement of Finals Days in The Sportsground ahead, the Association of Referees Connacht Branch (ARCB) are holding another course for anyone interested in getting involved with refereeing! 

ARCB Referee Sarah O'Rourke attended the last course for new referees in September 2023 and said about refereeing since, "Being a referee fosters personal growth both on and off the pitch. Additionally, the camaraderie with fellow officials and players adds a social aspect to being a referee, creating a community that shares a passion for rugby. Overall, being a rugby referee provides a unique and rewarding experience".

After the successful new referees course in September, the ARCB are greatly looking forward to hosting their next one-day course.

When? Saturday, 27th January

Where? The Connacht Hotel in Galway City

What Time? 10:30 AM until 3:00 PM

Do I need to have refereed before to attend? No! This course is aimed at those who have little to no past refereeing experince.

Attending the course will give new referees the confidence and base knowledge to begin their refereeing careers. "With the upcoming new members course I’m reminded of why I got involved and enjoy refereeing. I really enjoy meeting people around Connacht and I get to see up close some brilliant games. I enjoy the challenge and the demands of physical fitness and mental focus," says veteran ARCB referee Johnny Quinn.
