The weekend dates for the newly sponsored GUINNESS PRO12 have now been announced, with the 2014/15 season kicking off on the first weekend of September.

Connacht Rugby will play host to Welsh opponents Dragons during the opening weekend and the team will be hoping to replicate last season’s double over the men from Gwent.

In round two, Pat Lam’s squad will across the water to Scottish capital Edinburgh where they will play their first official away trip of the new season.

There are the regular local derby fixtures to look forward to over the festive period but this time it will be three consecutive interpro games with Connacht travelling to Leinster and then Ulster either side of Christmas Day. Provincial rivals Munster will then make their way to the Sportsground for the opening game of the New Year.

The final round of the regular season, Round 22, is scheduled for the weekend of 8/9/10 May. The Play-Offs follow a week later and then the 2013/14 GUINNESS PRO12 season concludes with the Final on the last weekend in May.

John Feehan, Chief Executive, GUINNESS PRO12 said that ‘we are delighted that Guinness, an international brand with a strong pedigree in rugby, will be our title sponsor and we are looking forward to working with Guinness in actively developing the profile and stature of our competition which boasts some of the biggest names in world rugby.’

Charlie McEwen, Sales & Marketing Director, GUINNESS PRO12 commented that ‘Today’s announcement and that of the Sky Sports partnership earlier in the year provides the backdrop for an exciting new dawn for the GUINNESS PRO12, we look forward to a compelling season of rugby and working with our new partners to promote the competition.

David Jordan, Tournament Director, GUINNESS PRO12 stated that ‘the kick off times for the first half of the season will be issued shortly,  I for one can’t wait to watch last season’s top two go into to battle as Glasgow Warriors set to with Leinster in the opening weekend .  The many highlights of the GUINNESS PRO12 season include the games over the Christmas Holiday period, where the celebrated derbies are among the feast of rugby that we are all looking forward to next season.’
