CWL Final-300Tullamore v Castlebar

Sportsground, Saturday 29th March 2 pm

This year’s Connacht Women’s Invitational Cup sees Tullamore RFC from Offaly play Castlebar RFC for the right to be named champions. Both teams have had good campaigns to make the final, and will be looking to make their campaign that much better with a win.

Castlebar topped Pool B, with bonus points edging them through over Canterbury Warriors after both teams only lost once to each other in the campaign. Castlebar will have former Connacht underage star Darwyn O’Halloran among their ranks and she has made an impressive transition to the senior game. Castlebar are in their first competitive year and won the Connacht women’s league before Christmas. They will be gunning for the double to cap an amazing first year.

Tullamore topped Pool A, only losing one game in the process. It’s been a great year for the Tullamore ladies, who were also only formed at the beginning of the season. Their qualification has been assured in no small part to the bonus point wins over Tuam and Dungarvan in the last two weeks.

Whoever comes out on top will be capping a remarkable first year, and the benefits of the Irish women’s grand slam last year are starting to reap it’s rewards in the women’s game in Connacht.
